Gender of Primary Authors and Types of Research in Three Rehabilitation Counseling Journals

1990 to 1999

Amy L. Skinner

University of Tennessee

Kristi Walker

University of Tennessee

The authors reviewed all articles published in three rehabilitation counseling journals from 1990 through 1999 to identify the gender of the primary author for each article and the type of article. It was found that men were more likely to be the primary authors of empirical and expository articles in each journal; however, this difference was not significant.
